A Tribute to Our Friends
For the past 3 weeks, we have lived with Ruth and Richard Dix -- on our safari and here in Kijabe. For the past 19 years, we have been privileged to have a friendship with them. In August of 1988, we visited Church of the Open Door in Glendora, CA for the first time. On that first Sunday, we were invited by Ruth and Rich to join them in their home for Sunday lunch.
Over the years, we have walked rocky roads and taken joyous journeys with them. Ruth and I have worked together in women's ministries at COD on many occasions. When she was asked to be speaker at a women's retreat, she asked me to join her as her prayer partner. We attended a women's ministries conference in Portland, OR, and we have driven to San Diego to hear Anne Graham Lotz speak. I have helped Ruth with many potlucks and sit-down dinners in their home in Whittier. Their home has often been our home away from home.
Ruth and Rich have a real gift for hospitality, true missionary hearts, amazing organization, abounding energy (I don't think they ever really sleep) and the ability to let people live with them long term and remain calm, cool and cordial.
As they leave Kijabe this week for further travels in Africa, I want to dedicate this entry to our good friends who have blessed our lives, and who are the instruments God used to bring us to Kijabe today. May God bless you both, and our prayers for your safety and further ministry are with you.
