Meet Mama Chiku
The curtain in the doorway blew gently in the breeze. Pushing aside the curtain, the six of us entered Mama Chiku's, a one room restaurant, sparsely decorated with old posters on the walls, bare wood tables "adorned" with small bouquets of plastic flowers and mismatched placemats, and an eclectic collection of chairs.
Though we have not tried everything posted on the blackboard menu hanging on the wall, we really really enjoy her stew, which comes with beef stew as we know it, plus rice, boiled potatoes, cooked cabbage, green beans, and chipatis -- a cross betwen flour tortillas and pita bread, but much better and very addictive!
So, when you come to Kijabe, you must try Mama Chiku's. It won't make fine dining headlines, but the food sure is good and it's the most "goin'" place in Kijabe!
Come join us, and we'll treat you to dinner at Mama Chiku's. Meet us a 5:30 tonight, OK?
