Kijabe and Back and Then to Mali

After venturing to Kijabe, Kenya, East Africa with my husband in 2006, I embarked on an even greater adventure in 2007. I took two mission trips to a remote village in Mali, West Africa in both July and September with some women from church. Here's a bit of my story.

Deer Me

Sitting at the desk to check email, I glanced out back while the computer booted up. At the edge of the woods lies a felled tree (soon to be firewood). I noticed a little wiggling on the other side of the large trunk, too small to know what it was. Then a small head peeked over the tree trunk, and Bambi appeared. Knowing Bambi wouldn't be alone, I waited . . . and within seconds, Mama wandered on the scene. For the next ten minutes or so, they peacefully grazed on the grass we need to mow. (Sorry for the blur. I had to take the picture through the window.)

I love it here!

Deer in the backyard. Bright red cardinals feeding at the back porch. Wonderful night sounds of crickets, tree frogs and cicadas. Thunderstorms. Trees and trees and trees.

Yes, I do love it here!

Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth;
Break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises. . . .
Shout joyfully before the Lord, the King.
Let the sea roar, and all its fullness,
The world and those who dwell in it;
Let the rivers clap their hands;
Let the hills be joyful together before the Lord, . . .
[Psalm 98]
