Kijabe and Back and Then to Mali

After venturing to Kijabe, Kenya, East Africa with my husband in 2006, I embarked on an even greater adventure in 2007. I took two mission trips to a remote village in Mali, West Africa in both July and September with some women from church. Here's a bit of my story.

Fourth of July

There's nothing like an American potluck and BBQ. We gathered on the upper campus of RVA this evening -- and what a spread of food. I suppose there were well over 100 fellow-Americans who gathered together.

After we sang the National Anthem (with great gusto, I might add) and thanking the Lord for the privilege of being Americans and for the greater privilege of serving Him here in Kijabe, the chow line was formed.

There were no fireworks, but we did enjoy great patriotic music playing over loud speakers, and just a lot of good fellowship and conversation.

Unfortunately, I had forgotten to recharge the battery to my camera, so after taking these few pictures, my battery died, and I missed out on what would have been some great shots. Sigh!

As our day here in Kenya wides down, you are only midway thru your day. Cherish it with gratitude for America!

All is calm in the land of the big red hog (as Arkansas is called by one of my Hawaiian friends) it was over 100 in Grove OK where we drove exploring and raining! So much like Hilo. Very good post and now you know why I carry a purse like I do with a camera extra batteries and such. I dont want to miss a great shot....Blogging can be addictive, I know... miss you guys....

Happy belated Fourth of July to you both too! We did the usual HUB BBQ with the Richter/Trerise group. It was fun getting to the new folks in that group. We love seeing your pictures and commentary. Just think, when you get home and people ask you about your trip, you'll have it all written down and illustrated. We continue to pray for Gene's class, blessings and love to you both, Eddie and Judy
