Twas the Day After Christmas
'Twas the day after Christmas and all through our house
not much was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings still hung by the chimney with care
await the arrival of our grandkids so dear.
The packages still wrapped surround our tree,
and holly so green bedecks our chimney,
(well, actually, the fireplace mantle).
The wreath on the door and ol' snowman so white
hold faithful vigil on our porch each night.
The wreath by the driveway brings light to the road
to help the Estradas find the right place to unload
all their luggage and warm clothes when they arrive
from their long journey, their cross-country drive.
It may be the day after Christmas for some
but for Gingergrandma and Papa it's not yet begun.
The kids should arrive on Thursday this week
and then in the packages we can finally peek.
With Tori and Madi and little Kate too
and their Mommy and Daddy, the rest of the crew,
we expect some great fun and bright laughter too
as we share family love and Christmas cheer.
Our only regret is that Mike can't be here
with his precious family so we all can share
the joy of this Christmas season together.
As the days click along and the New Year song
soon rings in our ears it's loud, beckoning sound,
may you find peace in the Lord, the joy of His gift,
and the love that He gives to all who believe.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
